Wonhundred Word Wednesdays

Prompt: She decided to go to her father's grave, to ask his advice.

Eliana gazed at the ring in the box. She had been shocked when Robert proposed.

She loved him. He was perfect for her. Kind. Wealthy. Responsible. He made her laugh.

But he was twenty years her senior. His grown children disapproved of their relationship.

She needed to ask her father for advice. She walked the three blocks to the cemetery and told him the whole story.

“Should I marry him, Dad?”

A dove perched on the headstone. It let out a happy chirp and flew away.

Eliana took the ring out of the box and slipped it on her finger.

Wonhundred Word Wednesdays

Prompt: He had waited twenty years to return it.

Rick stared in shock as Deagen sauntered into the bar, his arm around Sandra like he owned her. It’d been twenty years since seen each other. Since Sandra left Rick at the altar.

She’d been in love with Deagen. Rick’s brother. They’d been together. She couldn’t go through with the wedding. When Rick had tried to stop Sandra from leaving, Deagen had punch him. Rick spent what should’ve been his wedding night in a hospital ER.

Rick strode over to Deagen. “Rick!” Sandra said in surprise. But Rick’s fist was already plowing into Deagen’s face. Cartilage crunched and Rick smiled.

Wonhundred Word Wednesdays

Prompt: Spare some change please?

Kelsey huddled against the cold in tattered rags. Her scalp itched. She wouldn’t risk upsetting her wig. Soon she’d be home with her jetted tub and 65” television.

There he was! Alone.

Kelsey blocked his path. “Spare some change please?

His lips curled in a sneer. “Get out of my way.”

Kelsey ripped the knife out of her boot, plunging it into his chest.

He gurgled, falling to the sidewalk. Her employer would be pleased. Kelsey wiped the knife off on his jacket, then stuck it back in her boot. Time to go home, take a bath, and watch TV.

Wonhundred Word Wednesdays

I had a fun time writing this post. I bet you can't guess what gave me the idea. ;) Enjoy!

Prompt: There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room.

Annie laughed as waves chased her across the sand. She plopped onto her beach towel, next to her sleeping husband. The warm sun soothed and comforted as she picked up a book.

A strange wailing came from the next room. Annie tried to stay in her dream. Another wail joined the first.

She pried open one eye. 2:42 A.M. The wailing grew louder. Time to feed her seven-week-old twins. Again.

As she fed them, she gazed at their beautiful faces. She was exhausted. Doubted she’d survive the coming year. Desperately in need of a beach. But they were worth it.

See how the others interpreted this prompt!
